Employment

man in a wheelchair working at a job sitePeople with disabilities need an equal opportunity to work in all areas of the workforce, in order to be fully integrated into the mainstream of economic life.  Youth and adults with disabilities may need specialized supports and opportunities in order to succeed in the workforce.  Employers should pay people with disabilities a fair and equal wage for their work, and need to make reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities in the workplace.

We help youth and adults with disabilities:

  • Obtain vocational rehabilitation services, including integrated community work experiences and post-secondary training
  • Access appropriate Social Security Administration (SSA) work incentives, so that they can more easily transition to the workforce
  • Obtain reasonable accommodations from their employers
  • Address misuse of SSA benefits by employers who are also representative payees.
