The Rhode Island Developmental Disabilities Council
The Rhode Island Developmental Disabilities Council is a federally funded agency of the Rhode Island state government. It is mandated to stay abreast of and share information about new programs and services and important issues, trends and ideas that are of concern to people with developmental disabilities, families, service agencies, business and community leaders, legislators and policy makers. Its staff members must also identify ways to improve services for individuals and their families and submit these to the federal government in its state plan.

Sherlock Center on Disabilities
The Sherlock Center is Rhode Island's University Center on Disabilities. Its mission is to promote the community membership of individuals with disabilities in interdisciplinary training, community outreach and service, dissemination of information, and research. Staff members focus on the individual who has the disability and those persons who have daily contact with that individual; they believe the content and outcome are more important than the process and that collaboration is the key to achieving positive outcomes.
