DRAFT PRIORITIES FOR 2016

STATEMENT OF PRIORITIES
FEDERAL FISCAL YEAR 2015

(October 1, 2014 through September 30, 2015)
Priorities are numbered only for the purpose of identification and the numerical value of a priority is no indication of its significance in relation to any other.
SYSTEMIC PRIORITIES
Priorities One through Seven are the major systemic activities contemplated for Fiscal Year 2015; these priorities were developed in response to issues identified as broad concerns to the disability community and are not issues on which we have the capacity to provide individual representation.

PRIORITY ONE:

Ensure that reports of abuse or neglect of persons with disabilities in public or private facilities and in the community are responded to, investigated, and addressed in a timely and effective manner by the appropriate authorities.

PRIORITY TWO:

Collaborate with the Rhode Island Developmental Disabilities Council, the Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities, and other members of the Employment First Task Force created by the Consent Decree entered in the U.S. District Court case entitled United States of America v. State of Rhode Island, No. CA14-175, in the identification of barriers to successful implementation of the Consent decree, and the development of best practices and corrective actions to ensure that persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities can transition successfully from facility-based sheltered workshops and day programs to integrated employment and day settings.
